It has a number of varieties among them are grapefruits with red, pink and white pulps. Despite different alternations in terms of taste, shape and region of cultivation, they all contain lots of healthy nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, manganese, calcium, phosphorus, folic acid, iron, B vitamins and especially they are a good source of Vitamin C. Similarly to many other fruits, all of above-mentioned nutrients help to deal with a number of problems that can be minimized or even prevented if one consumes grapefruits regularly.

Further, the consumption of grapefruit juice with apple cider vinegar help to reduce arthritis symptoms. Further, salicylic acid in grapefruit is a great antiseptic. It is also great for cancer prevention issues effectively dealing with different kinds of tumors and cancers.   It also should be noted that grapefruits can be used for other purposes such as skin smoothing and firming treatment and as a  green cleaner. This citrus is excellent for those that have dark patches on their bodies especially in elbows and knees areas. Vitamin C found in grapefruits helps to fade spots due to reduction of skin pigment production. The usage of grapefruit with sugar is often viewed as a “mild exfoliant” and effective for rough skin smoothing. However, one should remember that it can be effectively applied for body surface but the face area should be omitted in view of its sensitivity. Further, high amount of Vitamin C in grapefruit make the skin complexion pulmp and firm keeping skin in an excellent shape. Lastly, grapefruits may be applied even for home usage. The citric acid in those fruits dissolves dirt making it good for scrubbing purposes as an eco-friendly “green” cleaner.

Despite all positives of grapefruits, we all should remember that grapefruits can increase the effectiveness of some medicine and therefore a consultation with a doctor is highly recommended. Further, active consumption of grapefruit juice can cause erosion of tooth enamel. It is often suggested to wait at least one hour after grapefruit juice consumption before teeth brushing. Lastly, we should not forget about sugar content of grapefruits. It is somewhat 8 g of sugar per  0.5 fruit (123 g).

To conclude, grapefruits is an excellent source of nutrients and vitamins and is great for a number for  disease prevention, skin smoothing and household  purposes. However, there are some  limitations of grapefruit usage due to its citrus nature.
